Chapter I - Crossing Over

First of all I want to say that I really liked the authors writing style. It is easy to understand and I am able to read fluently without any problems. It is like a diary for the protagonists point of view and we can have an insight in her life.

How freaky green ey
es got her name:

"It began with me a year ago this past July. A few weeks after my fourteenth birthday. When Freaky Green Eyes came into my heart." "The stuff between my parents hadn't started yet. Well, probably it had but I wasn't picking up signals. Wasn't wanting to." In the first chapter we learn about Francesca Piersons life and the situation she is in. She lives in Yarrow Heights with her family. We can see that there might be some problems in her family. Her father is a famous former athlete (a professional football player). We also learn how she got her name "freaky green eyes", which is also the title of the book. The story begins with a party at some rich people's place on Puget Sound. She was probably the youngest one at this party and she didn't know anybody because they all seemed to be college age and the girls she had come with dumped her. So at this party on Puget Sound Francesca meets a good looking guy, named Cameron, who is a freshman at the University of Southern California. Cameron tries to rape her but she kicked him in the groin and escaped. "Freaky green eyes saved her life" This is what Cameron said after she kicked and even had bitten him too:
"You f-freak! You should see your eyes! Freaky green eyes! You're crazy!"

[...]FREAKY GREEN EYES he'd called me.
FREAKY GREEN EYES saved my life.

So this is how she came up with "Freaky" ... or let's say this was the moment when the "Freaky" inside of her was born ...

That is how Francesca could have looked when she appeared on the party on Puget Sound. Francesca is skinny and has milky, freckled skin with carroty-red, frizzy hair.

Some vocabulary I want to remember: tomboy a girl fond of rough and noisy activities to coax to persuade, sweet-talk maze Irrgarten

I chose the book "Freaky Green Eyes" because I thought that it has the most interesting title from the books that were presented to us and also the way our instructor of the course "Working with Narrative Texts in the FL Classroom" was talking about the book made me curious. I made some suggestions what this book could be about:
Well I had no idea what this book would be about, besides what Mr. Schmidt told us, but I was sure that the protagonist would be green eyed =)
